Ind. Code § 16-46-7.6-1 "Cancer center"

Sec. 1. As used in this chapter, "cancer center" means one (1) of the following: (1) An institution that has been designated by the National Cancer Institute as a: (A) comprehensive cancer center; (B) clinical cancer center; or (C) basic laboratory cancer center. (2) A cancer research facility that is formally part of an approved postsecondary educational institution (as defined in IC 21-7-13-6(b)). As added by P.L.170-2025, SEC.5.

Ind. Code § 16-46-7.6-2 "Fund"

Sec. 2. As used in this chapter, "fund" refers to the breast cancer research fund established by section 7 of this chapter. As added by P.L.170-2025, SEC.5.

Sec. 3. As used in this chapter, "program" refers to the grant program established by the state department under this chapter. As added by P.L.170-2025, SEC.5.

Sec. 4. The state department may establish a program for the purpose of providing grants to cancer centers in Indiana to increase: (1) breast cancer research projects; or (2) breast cancer clinical trials. As added by P.L.170-2025, SEC.5.

Ind. Code § 16-46-7.6-5 Powers of the state department

Sec. 5. The state department may do the following: (1) Develop the application criteria and standards for eligibility for cancer centers that apply for grants under the program. (2) Make available grants to cancer centers that meet the eligibility standards developed under subdivision (1). However, the state department shall prioritize grants to cancer centers in the following order: (A) A cancer center described in section 1(1) of this chapter. (B) A cancer center described in section 1(2) of this chapter. (3) Determine the maximum amount available for each grant. (4) Determine policies for the expiration and renewal of grants. (5) Require that each grant be used for the purpose of breast cancer research. (6) Adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 necessary to implement this chapter. As added by P.L.170-2025, SEC.5.

Ind. Code § 16-46-7.6-7 Establishment of fund; source of funding; administration

Sec. 7. (a) The breast cancer research fund is established for the purpose of carrying out this chapter. The state department shall administer the fund. (b) The fund consists of the following: (1) Amounts, if any, distributed to the fund from the Indiana tobacco master settlement agreement fund. (2) Gifts, bequests, and other sources of funding. (c) The expenses of administering the fund shall be paid from money in the fund. (d) The treasurer of state shall invest the money in the fund not currently needed to meet the obligations of the fund in the same manner as other public money may be invested. (e) Money in the fund at the end of a state fiscal year does not revert to the state general fund. (f) Money in the fund is continuously appropriated for the purposes of the fund.
