Common questions
How much does it cost?
State filing fee + Corpus service fee. The state’s own filing fee varies by state and is itemized after you choose one. The Corpus service includes registered-agent service for year 1. The EIN add-on is optional and costs $75. Belisarius quotes the exact current amount in the chat after state selection, before purchase.
How long does it take?
We submit your filing to the state within 10 business days of your completed, approved order — and if we haven’t submitted by then, you can cancel for a full refund. We review every order by hand right now, so you’ll hear from a person, not a status page, if anything needs you. State processing time after submission varies by state (often days, sometimes weeks — the chat can tell you about your state). Your tracking page shows every step live.
One exception, and we’ll always show it to you before you pay: some orders are offered on a founding-customer basis with a named submission period and a discount — for example, “submitted within 14 days of your payment”. If you accept that at checkout, it replaces the 10 business days for your order and the refund promise attaches to it instead. You see the exact promise, you tick a box, and it goes on your order. Your payment fixes the specific date, which then appears on your company page — we never move it later.
Is this legal advice?
No. Corpus is not a law firm and Belisarius does not give legal advice — it assists with filing preparation and procedural questions. A human reviews every filing for completeness, not legal adequacy. For advice about your situation, consult a licensed attorney. Full details in our terms.
Which states are supported?
All 50 states and the District of Columbia, for LLC formation. Nonprofit formation is available as a concierge service in most states — mention it in the chat and Belisarius will walk you through what your state requires.
What if something goes wrong?
You get a full refund any time before your filing is submitted to the state — no questions. After submission, state fees are committed, but a human is watching every order and will complete your filing personally if anything hiccups. Email support@corpuslaw.us and a person answers.
What does it cost after year 1?
Your registered agent renews at a flat $99/yr — stated here before you ever pay, and you can cancel anytime. There are no other recurring Corpus fees. (Your state may charge its own annual-report fee — ask in the chat what your state requires.)
How is this different from LegalZoom or ZenBusiness?
LegalZoom and ZenBusiness advertise “$0” formations and earn it back on what renews later — registered agent at $199–$249/yr. Corpus shows the state filing fee and Corpus service fee after you choose a state; the renewal is $99/yr flat and disclosed before checkout, a human approves your exact filing (cryptographically hash-locked), and you can watch the agent work on a public console. The full cost comparison — including our own admission that we're not always the absolute cheapest — is on our comparison page.
