The inspector general shall employ and commission peace officers for the purpose of assisting a state or local law enforcement agency in the investigation of an alleged criminal offense involving a resident or client of a center. A peace officer employed and commissioned by the inspector general is a peace officer for purposes of Article 2A.001 , Code of Criminal Procedure. Added by Acts 2009, 81st Leg., R.S., Ch. 284 (S.B. 643 ), Sec. 22, eff. June 11, 2009.
