(a) The department: (1) may issue a security officer commission to an individual employed as a uniformed security officer; and (2) shall issue a security officer commission to a qualified employee of an armored car company that is a carrier conducting the armored car business under a federal or state permit or certificate. (b) A security officer commission issued under this section must be in the form of a pocket card designed by the department that identifies the security officer.
