Fire escape stairways must be at least 24 inches (610 mm) wide with risers not more than, and treads not less than, 8 inches (203 mm). Guards not less than 36 inches (914 mm) in height must be provided at the open sides of fire escape stairways and landings. (Amend Coun. J. 10-7-20, p. 21791, Art. V, § 11)
