Municipal Code of Chicago § 10-8-410 Skating.

10-8-410 Skating. It shall be unlawful for any person to skate on roller or ice skates upon any public way in the city except on the sidewalks and at street intersections while crossing from one side of the street to the other. (Prior code § 36-39)

Municipal Code of Chicago § 10-8-420 Cleansing goods.

10-8-420 Cleansing goods. No person shall wash, rinse or cleanse, or cause or procure to be washed, rinsed or cleansed, any cloth, yarn or garment in any public way or public place in the city. (Prior code § 36-41)

Municipal Code of Chicago § 10-8-430 Washing windows and sidewalks.

10-8-430 Washing windows and sidewalks. From the first day of May until the first day of October it shall not be lawful for any person to wash or cause to be washed any pavement or window with a hose or streetwasher, or by throwing or dashing water against or upon the same in such manner as to permit or cause the water so used in washing to run or fall upon any public sidewalk or in such manner as to obstruct or tend to obstruct the use of any public sidewalk, with or by any implement used in and about the cleansing or washing of any such pavement or window, between hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. (Prior code § 36-42)

Municipal Code of Chicago § 10-8-440 Sorting of articles.

10-8-440 Sorting of articles. It shall be unlawful for any person to pick, sort, pack or unpack, fruit, flowers, vegetables, rags, paper, old iron, bottles, or junk upon any public way or other public place in the city. (Prior code § 36-43)

Municipal Code of Chicago § 10-8-450 Mixing concrete.

10-8-450 Mixing concrete. It shall be unlawful for any person to mix any dry or wet concrete, cement or plaster of any kind or description upon the surface of any public way. This provision shall not apply to the department of finance, or its designated agent, for the operation, maintenance, improvement, installation, or removal of (a) parking meters, or to any person (or such person's designee) acting pursuant to any concession agreement with the city governing the operation, installation, improvement, removal and maintenance of, and the collection of fees from, certain designated parking meters, or (b) city digital signs, or to any person (or such person's designee) acting pursuant to any coordinated city digital sign program agreement with the city governing the operation, installation, improvement, removal and maintenance of such city digital signs. Municipal Code of Chicago § 10-8-460 Spilling oil.

10-8-460 Spilling oil. It shall be unlawful for any person to spill any turpentine, kerosene, gasoline, benzine, naphtha, coal oil, or any product thereof, or any oil used for lubricating, illuminating or fuel purposes, or allow any of such fluids to escape to or upon any asphalt pavement of the city, or to operate, or to permit to be operated, any tank wagon or other vehicle from which any of such fluids are permitted to escape. Municipal Code of Chicago § 10-8-470 Spilling of substances on roadway.

10-8-470 Spilling of substances on roadway. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a vehicle, either in person or through his agents or employees, upon the expressways or roadways within the City of Chicago, unless such vehicle is so constructed or loaded as to prevent any of its load from dropping, spilling, sifting, leaking, blowing or otherwise escaping therefrom; provided, however, that sand, or other material used for the same purpose, may be dropped for the purpose of securing traction, or water or other substance may be sprinkled on a roadway or expressway in cleaning or maintaining such roadway or expressway. No person shall operate on any expressway or roadway within the City of Chicago, any vehicle with any load, unless said load is loaded, and any covering thereon is securely fastened, so as to prevent said load or covering from becoming loose, detached, or in any manner a hazard to other users of said expressway and roadways. Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be fined not less than $100.00 nor more than $500.00 for each offense. (Prior code § 36-45.1; Amend Coun. J. 12-4-02, p. 99931, § 7.3)

Municipal Code of Chicago § 10-8-480 Casting refuse and liquids.

10-8-480 Casting refuse and liquids. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person, in person or by his agent, employee or servant to cast, throw, sweep, sift or deposit in any manner in or upon any public way or other public place in the City, or in or upon the waters of Lake Michigan, or any river, canal, public water, drain, sewer or receiving basin within the jurisdiction of the City, any kind of litter. Nor shall any person cast, throw, sweep, sift or deposit any litter anywhere within the jurisdiction of the City in such manner that it may be carried or deposited, in whole or in part, by the action of the sun, wind, rain or snow, into any of the aforementioned places. (b) For purposes of this section, the term "litter" includes but is not limited to the following: (1) picnic or eating utensils, such as paper plates, cups, napkins, towels, plastic utensils, metal foil, cellophane, wax paper, paper bags, or any food wrappings; (2) liquid or beverage containers such as beer, soft-drink, and juice cans, beer, soft-drink, liquor and wine bottles, and milk or juice cartons; (3) tobacco and confection wrappers, such as cigarette packages, candy, ice cream, popsicle, gum or any other type of dessert or confection wrapping or container; (4) food wastes, such as fruit or vegetable peelings, pulp, rinds, leftovers or any other type of table wastes; (5) newspapers, books, placards, handbills, pamphlets, circulars, notices or papers of any type; (6) or any other type of rubbish, garbage, refuse matter, article, thing or substance such as discarded clothing, boxes, dust, manure or ashes. (c) [Reserved.] (d) Provided, that this section shall not apply to the deposit of material under a permit authorized by any ordinance of the City; or to goods, wares, or merchandise deposited upon any public way or other public place temporarily, in the necessary course of trade, and removed therefrom within two hours after being so deposited; or to articles or things deposited in or conducted into the City sewer system through lawful drains in accordance with the ordinances of the City relating thereto. Municipal Code of Chicago § 10-8-490 Selling tickets.

10-8-490 Selling tickets. It shall be unlawful for any person to sell, offer or expose for sale, or solicit any other person to purchase tickets for any railroad, steamboat or other transportation line, or any place of amusement, upon any public way or other public place within the district bounded on the north by the Chicago River, on the south by the south line of Roosevelt Road, on the east by Lake Michigan, and on the west by the Chicago River. Municipal Code of Chicago § 10-8-500 Selling tickets near amusement places.

10-8-500 Selling tickets near amusement places. No person shall obstruct or encumber any street corner or public place in front of any theater, baseball park or other place of amusement in the city, by lounging in or about the same after being requested to move on by any police officer. Nor shall any person be permitted to remain at any such place having in his possession any tickets for any theater, baseball park or other place of amusement, for the purpose of selling same, or offering the same for sale, in front of, or near any theater, baseball park or other place of amusement in an attempt at speculating in such tickets. Municipal Code of Chicago § 10-8-505 Selling tickets near a stadium or playing field.

10-8-505 Selling tickets near a stadium or playing field. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person, while located on the public way within 2,000 feet of a stadium or playing field, to sell, offer, or expose for sale, or solicit any other person to purchase tickets for any amusement produced or presented in that stadium or playing field. (b) For purposes of this section, the following definitions shall apply: "Stadium" or "playing field" shall mean a stadium or playing field which is not totally enclosed and contains more than 15,000 seats where any such seats are located within 100 feet of 200 or more dwelling units. The 100-foot distance shall be measured from the seat to the nearest point of the buildings in which the dwelling units are contained. "Amusement" shall be defined as set forth in Section 4-156-010 of this Code. "Dwelling unit" shall mean a room designed or used for sleeping accommodations, including hotel and dormitory rooms. (c) Any person found guilty of violating this section shall be subject to a fine of not less than $50.00 nor more than $200.00. (Added Coun. J. 4-16-97, p. 42633; Amend Coun. Municipal Code of Chicago § 10-8-510 Soliciting business.

10-8-510 Soliciting business. It shall be unlawful for any person including the owner of any business adjacent to or near the public way, either in person or through any agent or employee to stand upon, use or occupy the public ways to solicit the trade, custom or patronage for such business, or to interfere with or impede any pedestrian or any one in a vehicle on a public way, for purpose of soliciting business. Any such soliciting of business on any public way is hereby declared to be a nuisance and the owner or proprietor of any such business who shall refuse or neglect to abate such nuisance after being notified in writing so to do by the superintendent of police, shall be fined not less than $500.00 nor more than $1,000.00 for each and every day he shall refuse or neglect to abate such nuisance. Provided, nothing in this section shall be construed to include any business operated wholly or entirely upon any public way under or by virtue of a lawful permit or license issued therefor. Municipal Code of Chicago § 10-8-515 Soliciting unlawful business.

10-8-515 Soliciting unlawful business. (a) No person may: (I) stand upon, use or occupy the public way to solicit any unlawful business; or (ii) interfere with or impede any pedestrian or anyone in a vehicle on the public way, for the purpose of soliciting any unlawful business. (b) As used in this section, "unlawful business", means any exchange of goods or services for money or anything of value, where the nature of the goods or services, or the exchange thereof, is unlawful. Unlawful business includes, but is not limited to, prostitution or the illegal sale of narcotics. For purposes of this section, "soliciting" may be by words, gestures, symbols or any similar means. (c) A person who violates this section shall be subject to a fine of not less than $500.00 and/or imprisonment for: (I) not less than ten days and not more than six months for a first offense; (ii) not less than 20 days and not more than six months for a second offense; and (iii) not less than 30 days and not more than six months for a third or subsequent offense. In addition to the penalties specified above, a person who violates this section shall be ordered to perform up to 200 hours of community service. (Added Coun. J. 4-1-98, p. 65278)

Municipal Code of Chicago § 10-8-520 Street vendors.

10-8-520 Street vendors. Except as otherwise provided in this Code, no person shall sell, offer or expose for sale, or solicit any person to purchase any article or service whatsoever on any public way. Municipal Code of Chicago § 10-8-525 Vehicle servicing in traffic lane prohibited - Exception.

10-8-525 Vehicle servicing in traffic lane prohibited - Exception. Except in case of emergency, no person shall perform or offer to perform any service on a motor vehicle in any vehicular traffic lane on any public way in the city. (Added Coun. J. 7-14-93, p. 35528)

Municipal Code of Chicago § 10-8-526 Enforcement of Chicago Transit Authority Ordinance.

10-8-526 Enforcement of Chicago Transit Authority Ordinance. 98-126 – Rules Of Conduct. (a) The members of the Chicago Police Department shall have authority to enforce the provisions of Chicago Transit Authority Ordinance No. 98-126 ("A Comprehensive Ordinance Establishing Rules of Conduct to Promote Health, Safety and Welfare on Property Owned, Operated or Maintained by the Chicago Transit Authority"), as passed by the Chicago Transit Board on November 12, 1998, or as subsequently amended. (b) Any person who violates the above referenced ordinance shall be subject to a fine not to exceed $500.00 and shall be subject to an order requiring the violator to pay restitution when the violation involves damage to property. (c) In addition to any other means authorized by law, the city may enforce this section by instituting an action with the department of administrative hearings. (Added Coun.
