14X-5-505.8.4 Panic hardware.
Exit doors from occupancies listed in Sections 14X-5-505.8.4.1 through 14X-5-505.8.4.2 must be equipped with panic hardware or fire exit hardware meeting the following criteria: 1. The actuating portion of the releasing device must extend over at least one-half the door leaf width mounted between 30 inches (760 mm) and 48 inches (1220 mm) above the floor. 2. The maximum unlatching force must be 15 pounds (67 N) or less.
