Indianapolis-Marion County Revised Code § 283-341 Forensic services agency created.

Sec. 283-341. - Forensic services agency created. There is created the forensic services agency (FSA) which shall be under the policy supervision of the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Board through the director. FSA shall be the functional operating forensic services facility for such agencies, departments and divisions of local government as the board may prescribe. The board shall approve the organization of FSA along such lines as are consistent with principles of good management and the provisions of this article. FSA shall operate in accordance with the personnel policies and procedures established by the central personnel division pursuant to Chapter 221 of this Code, and in accordance with Chapter 291 of this Code. Indianapolis-Marion County Revised Code § 283-342 Agency duties and responsibilities.

Sec. 283-342. - Agency duties and responsibilities. (a) FSA shall be responsible for the supervision, management and operation of the county's criminal forensic scientific laboratory. (b) FSA shall provide subject law enforcement agencies with comprehensive forensic laboratory services, including crime scene services, specialized evidentiary evaluations, examinations, scientific analyses, and database support. These services may cover a range of forensic disciplines related to evidence collection, material identification, comparative analyses, and authentication. FSA shall proactively assess the evolving needs of the public safety community and strive to adapt its offerings to effectively support the residents of the City of Indianapolis and Marion County. Additionally, FSA shall provide expert testimony upon request from subject agencies. (Code 1975, § 2-511; G.O. 39, 2025, § 1)

Indianapolis-Marion County Revised Code § 283-343 Duties of director with respect to agency.

Sec. 283-343. - Duties of director with respect to agency. FSA shall be managed and supervised by the director. The director will be responsible for the planning, organization and management of FSA, within organization plans and policies approved by the board. (Code 1975, § 2-512)
