Sec. 42-20. - Service of process. Members of the classified service of the police department shall have power and authority, and it shall be their duty to serve and execute warrants and other process for the summoning, apprehension and commitment of any person charged with a violation of any ordinance, or commission of any crime, or misdemeanor, or offense against the laws of the city or state.
