Bridges, walks and passages through excavation.
Oklahoma City Municipal Code § 50-36
in effect§ 50-36. - Bridges, walks and passages through excavation.
(a) In all cases where excavations are made entirely across a street, alley, sidewalk or any other public grounds, whether paved or unpaved, a substantial walk or driveway bridge shall be maintained across the trench or opening by the person making the excavation. Such walk or driveway bridge at all times shall be subject to the approval of the Director.
(b) All persons making excavations shall at all times keep open and maintain in the streets, sidewalks, alleys, or other public grounds a good, clear, safe, and unobstructed passageway for water, vehicles, and pedestrians, and shall roof or bridge over the passage in accordance with the direction of the Director.
(c) Where in the opinion of the Director, the provision of a covered walkway or driveway bridge or unobstructed passage immediately adjacent to the street, alley, sidewalk or other public ground being excavated does not adequately provide for the protection of the public health and safety, the Director shall designate alternate routes of travel for pedestrian and vehicular traffic. In connection therewith the Director shall provide for the placement of such signs and signals as are reasonably necessary to apprise the public of such alternate route.
