Sec. 525. - Authority of City to purchase or condemn land. Whenever in the judgment of the legislative body of such municipality it may be necessary or expedient for the carrying out and full exercise of the powers thereby granted, said municipality shall have full power and authority to acquire by purchase or condemnation of the necessary lands or rights or easements, and may proceed to condemn in the manner provided by the general laws of the state governing the taking of land or the acquiring of an interest therein for the uses for which private property may be taken, and such proceedings may be governed in every respect by the general laws of the State pertaining thereto. (Acts 1907, ch. 341, § 16)
