Los Angeles Administrative Code § 22.653 Responsibility to Provide Communications Services.

Sec. 22.653. Responsibility to Provide Communications Services. (a) The Department shall be responsible for providing all communications services to the departments and offices of the City of Los Angeles. The Department shall provide, either by facilities owned by the City, or by contract, or shall otherwise procure from others, all communications services needed to discharge its responsibilities. (b) The services, facilities, and equipment shall be provided or approved by the Department and shall be limited by the authority or funds which have been provided by the Council, or to that furnished by the requesting department to the Department for such services, facilities, and equipment. Los Angeles Administrative Code § 22.654 Nature of Services.

Sec. 22.654. Nature of Services. The provision of communications services shall include, but not be limited to, the design, planning, specification, leasing, purchasing, distribution, disposition, installation and maintenance of all communications equipment or services necessary therefor and may include operation of equipment and facilities used to provide such services. It shall also include the examination and approval of plans for: (a) The construction of new public buildings and the remodeling of existing public facilities or leased facilities for City use; and (b) Recommendations as to panel boards, conduit raceways, allocation of space and other design requirements important to the proper communications requirements, present and future, of the proposed structure or remodeling project. Los Angeles Administrative Code § 22.655 Exceptions.

Sec. 22.655. Exceptions. Except for frequency coordination, Information Technology System services shall not be provided to the Department of Water and Power, the Harbor Department or the Department of Airports, except to the extent, if any, requested by such departments and approved by the General Manager of the Department. Nor shall it be provided for a telecommunications system operated incidental to any traffic signal system or in connection with any franchise or permit obtained for a pipeline, railroad, spur track or like facility which will remain the responsibility of the Department of Transportation, except to the extent, if any, requested by the Department of Transportation and approved by the General Manager of the Department. Los Angeles Administrative Code § 22.656 Limitations on Information Technology System Services.

Sec. 22.656. Limitations on Information Technology System Services. Information Technology System services shall not include construction, installation, operation or maintenance of scientific investigation electronic equipment of the Police Department, nor shall such services include dispatch operations of the Police or Fire Communications Centers, except to the extent requested by such department and approved by the General Manager of the Department or if so ordered by the Council. Nor shall it include the physical delivery services, messenger services and mail services (including deposits in the United States mail). SECTION HISTORY Added by Ord No. 170,600, Eff. 8-11-95.
