161.09 - Criminal history background check of applicants. The division of fire in performing background investigation on applicants for appointment as firefighters is authorized and directed to obtain a criminal history background check to be used in determining the fitness of the applicant to be appointed as a firefighter. This criminal history background check is required in order to protect the public health and welfare since firefighters are engaged in direct service and contact with the public. (Ord. 346-88.)
