Heat to be provided.
Municipal Code of Chicago § 14X-8-802.2.2
in effect14X-8-802.2.2 Heat to be provided.
Dwelling units and sleeping units to which heat is furnished from a heating plant used in common for the purpose of heating more than one such unit must be supplied with heat from September 15th of each year to June 1st of the succeeding year so that the occupants may secure, when all windows and exterior doors are closed, a minimum temperature of 68ºF (20ºC) at 8:30 a.m. and thereafter until 10:30 p.m. and 66ºF (19ºC) at 10:30 p.m. and thereafter until 8:30 a.m. in all habitable spaces, toilet rooms, and bathrooms. This section does not prevent an owner from disengaging heating equipment or engaging cooling equipment between these dates as long as the required minimum temperature is maintained within dwelling units and sleeping units.
Exception: In buildings where the same facilities are used to provide both heating and cooling to the units, the minimum temperature is 64°F (18°C):
1. Between September 15 and October 31, prior to the first date when the nighttime outdoor temperature falls below 45°F (7°C).
2. Between April 1 and June 1, on or after the first date when the daytime outdoor temperature exceeds 75°F (24°C).
