Memphis Code of Ordinances § 2-54-1 Created.

Sec. 2-54-1. - Created. For the purpose of authorizing, regulating, restricting and controlling the public begging or soliciting of money, subscriptions or contributions for any charitable, religious, educational or benevolent purpose, there is created a board of supervisors of public solicitation of funds. Memphis Code of Ordinances § 2-54-2 Composition; appointment and terms of members.

Sec. 2-54-2. - Composition; appointment and terms of members. The board of supervisors shall consist of seven members, who shall be appointed by the mayor, subject to approval of the city council, and who shall hold office for a term of one calendar year, or until their successors are appointed and qualified. Memphis Code of Ordinances § 2-54-3 Qualifications of members.

Sec. 2-54-3. - Qualifications of members. Each member of the board of supervisors shall be over the age of 21 years and shall be a resident of this county. (Code 1967, § 33-15; Code 1985, § 30-18)

Sec. 2-54-4. - Appointment of chairperson. The chairperson of the board of supervisors shall be appointed by the mayor. (Code 1967, § 33-16; Code 1985, § 30-19)

Sec. 2-54-5. - Designation of secretary. The director of public service shall designate a person of lawful age to be secretary of the board of supervisors. (Code 1967, § 33-17; Code 1985, § 30-20)

Memphis Code of Ordinances § 2-54-6 Meetings.

Sec. 2-54-6. - Meetings. The board of supervisors shall meet in regular session at least once a month, at a time to be fixed by such board, and shall meet more often if necessary to perform the duties imposed on such board by this chapter. (Code 1967, § 33-18; Code 1985, § 30-21)

Memphis Code of Ordinances § 2-54-7 Issuance of placards or notices.

Sec. 2-54-7. - Issuance of placards or notices. The board of supervisors shall have authority to issue placards or notices for the use of all persons in giving the public notice that no contributions are made for the purposes set forth in this chapter except to solicitors authorized by such board of supervisors. Memphis Code of Ordinances § 2-54-8 Rules and regulations.

Sec. 2-54-8. - Rules and regulations. The board of supervisors shall have power to prescribe rules and regulations for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of this chapter. (Code 1967, § 33-20; Code 1985, § 30-23)

Memphis Code of Ordinances § 2-54-9 Removal of members.

Sec. 2-54-9. - Removal of members. Any member of the board of supervisors may be removed at any time by the mayor. (Code 1967, § 33-21; Code 1985, § 30-24)
