San José Municipal Code § 20.200.445
in effect"Group home" is a one-family dwelling unit operating as a single housekeeping unit of persons, related or unrelated, where an operator provides 24-hour care for a variety of persons in need of personal services, supervision, protection, or assistance essential for sustaining the activities of daily living.
