A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to permissible sound levels of music
Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. Declaration of legislative findings. The council finds that the increasing number of commercial establishments where music is either played, rehearsed, or recorded, is causing significant disturbances to occupants of nearby dwellings. The council further finds that currently the noise control code does not effectively regulate noise produced by such establishments and that in order to safeguard the health and welfare of the residents of the city the provisions of such code should be strengthened.
