El Paso City Code § 2.56.010 Certain appointments prohibited.

2.56.010 - Certain appointments prohibited. No officer of the city, nor any member of any city board, committee or commission, shall appoint, or vote for, or confirm the appointment to any nonpaid or nonsalaried office, position, employment or duty with the city, of any person related within the second degree by affinity or within the third degree by consanguinity to the person so appointing, voting or confirming, or to any other member of the board, committee or commission of which the person so appointing, voting or confirming may be a member. (Prior code § 2-3.3(a))

2.56.020 - Removal of persons currently in city service. On the effective date of this chapter, if any person is serving in a nonpaid or nonsalaried office, position, employment or duty with the city, and is related within the second degree by affinity or within the third degree by consanguinity to a city officer, or member of a city board, committee or commission who appointed, voted for, or confirmed his appointment, or to any other member of the board, committee or commission of which the individual so appointing, voting or confirming may be a member, such person is automatically removed from his office, position, employment or duty effective immediately. (Prior code § 2-3.3(b))

2.56.030 - Amendment of existing inconsistent ordinances. To the extent that the provisions of any existing city ordinance or ordinances are inconsistent with the provisions of this chapter, such inconsistent provisions are amended to conform herewith. (Prior code § 2-3.3(c))

El Paso City Code § 2.56.040 Provisions regulating appointments to positions paid for by public funds.

2.56.040 - Provisions regulating appointments to positions paid for by public funds. Any appointment to an office, position, employment or duty, when the salary, fees or compensation of the appointee will be paid for, directly or indirectly, out of or from public funds or fees of office of any kind or character whatsoever, shall continue to be regulated by the provisions of Art. 5996a, V.A.C.S. (Prior code § 2-3.3(d))
