2509.05 - Sprinkler of exterior balconies and decks, and patios of residential property. Where a building is provided with a fire sprinkler system in accordance with NFPA 13 or 13R (except limited area systems), sprinkler protection shall be provided for exterior balconies, decks, and ground floor patios of dwelling units and sleeping units, provided there is a roof or deck above, regardless of the type of construction.
