Las Vegas Municipal Code § 2.28.010 Definitions.

2.28.010 - Definitions. As used in this Chapter: (A) "City Reserve Marshal" means any person volunteering his time to the City who has successfully completed the City Reserve Marshal program. (B) "City Reserve Marshal Program" means a training and testing program established by the City Marshal in order to select from persons volunteering their time to the City those persons who are qualified to perform as Deputy City Marshals during those times and places as directed by the City Marshal. 2.28.030 - City marshal—Director of Public Safety Department designated. The Director of the Department of Public Safety shall serve, ex officio, as City Marshal unless relieved of such responsibility by action of the City Manager appointing another person to the Office of City Marshal, subject to the ratification of the City Council. 2.28.040 - City marshal—Deputies and assistants. The City Marshal may be allowed such deputies, assistants and clerks as in the judgment of the City Manager may be necessary. (Ord. 3640 § 6, 1992)

2.28.050 - City marshal—Compensation. Persons appointed to the Office of City Marshal shall receive such compensation as is fixed by the City Council. (Ord. 3640 § 7, 1992)

2.28.060 - Deputies—Power and authority. The Deputy City Marshals shall have the same power and authority as the City Marshal. (Ord. 3640 § 8, 1992)

Las Vegas Municipal Code § 2.28.070 City reserve marshal program.

2.28.070 - City reserve marshal program. (A) The City Marshal may establish a City Reserve Marshal Program, for those persons volunteering their services to the City. (B) The City Marshal may assign volunteers qualifying under the City Reserve Marshal Program to perform actual duties of a City Marshal. (C) Persons qualifying under the City Reserve Marshal Program shall be referred to as City Reserve Marshals. (Ord. 3640 § 9, 1992)

Las Vegas Municipal Code § 2.28.080 City marshal—Scope of jurisdiction.

2.28.080 - City marshal—Scope of jurisdiction. The authority and jurisdiction of the City Marshal is limited to: (A) The issuance of citations in accordance with the provisions of NRS 171.17751; (B) The enforcement of State laws and City and County ordinances on real property owned, leased or otherwise under the control of the City of Las Vegas, including without limitation the Pedestrian Mall established pursuant to LVMC Chapter 11.68; (C) The service of warrants of arrest issued pursuant to NRS 5.060; (D) The removal of abandoned vehicles as authorized by NRS 487.230; and (E) The duties set forth in NRS 171.1223. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 2.28.090 Deputy or reserve marshals—Qualifications.

2.28.090 - Deputy or reserve marshals—Qualifications. The minimum qualifications of an applicant for the position of Deputy City Marshal or City Reserve Marshal shall be that: (A) He is at least twenty-one years of age; (B) He is a citizen of the United States; (C) He has not been convicted in any jurisdiction of a felony, a crime involving moral turpitude, or a crime involving the unlawful use of or possession of a firearm; (D) He does not suffer from alcoholism or addiction or narcotic drugs; (E) He does not suffer from any other disability that would prevent him from performing services as a Marshal, or would bring discredit to the City; and (F) He is of sound mind and good moral character. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 2.28.100 Investigation of applicants.

2.28.100 - Investigation of applicants. (A) The Department of Public Safety shall investigate each applicant for Deputy City Marshal and City Reserve Marshal to determine whether or not the facts set forth in the application are true, and report its findings to the City Manager's Office and the City Marshal's Office. (B) Applicants who make misrepresentations or omissions of relevant information on their applications shall be automatically disqualified for consideration as a Deputy City Marshal or a City Reserve Marshal. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 2.28.110 Training.

2.28.110 - Training. The City Marshal, Deputy City Marshals, and City Reserve Marshals shall successfully complete a training program approved by the Peace Officers' Standards and Training committee pursuant to the provisions of NRS 481.053 and 481.054. (Ord. 3640 § 13, 1992)

Las Vegas Municipal Code § 2.28.120 Uniforms, equipment and identification.

2.28.120 - Uniforms, equipment and identification. (A) The Deputy City Marshals shall be assigned appropriate standardized uniforms, equipment and identification. (B) Deputy City Marshals shall wear their assigned uniforms and equipment only during hours of assigned duty. (C) The City Marshal and Deputy City Marshals shall have with them at all times during their assigned duty hours their identification as a Marshal and shall show said identification upon request. (D) Reserve City Marshals, when actually performing the duties of a City Marshal, shall be issued the uniform, equipment, and identification referenced in Subsection (A) of this Section and shall comply with the provisions of Subsections (B) and (C) of this Section.
