Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.010 Generally.

11.02.010 - Generally. Whenever the words and phrases which are defined in this Chapter are used in this Title, they shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this Chapter, unless the context otherwise requires or a specific definition elsewhere is made to apply. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.020 Undefined words or phrases—State definitions.

11.02.020 - Undefined words or phrases—State definitions. Whenever any word or phrase used in this Title is not defined by this Chapter or by another provision of this Title applicable thereto, but is defined in NRS Chapters 484A to 484E, inclusive, regulating the operation of vehicles, the definition contained in those chapters shall apply to that word or phrase. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.030 Access aisle.

11.02.030 - Access aisle. "Access aisle" means an area that is: (1) Adjacent to a parking space designated for the handicapped; (2) Designed to allow for unobstructed ingress, egress and access between a vehicle and an accessible route of travel; and (3) Marked by spaced, crosshatched or diagonal stripes of a color that contrasts with the paving material or by a distinctive change in paving material. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.032 Central Traffic District—Defined.

11.02.032 - Central Traffic District—Defined. "Central Traffic District" means the entirety of the discrete area depicted by a Central Traffic District map to be produced by the Department of Public Works, the boundaries of which shall conform initially with the map provided as an attachment to Ordinance No. 6555. Such map may be amended by resolution of the City Council, after receiving a recommendation from the Traffic and Parking Commission to amend the boundaries of such district in conformance with Subsection B of Section 11.39.055. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.040 Circulatory roadway.

11.02.040 - Circulatory roadway. "Circulatory roadway" means that portion of a highway within a roundabout, not including any crosswalk, that is used by vehicles to travel counterclockwise around a central island. (Ord. No. 6326, § 2, 6-18-14)

Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.050 City parking facility.

11.02.050 - City parking facility. "City parking facility" includes a parking lot, parking garage, or other parking structure or facility which the City owns, operates or maintains, or in which the City enforces the provisions of this Title. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.060 Code enforcement authority.

11.02.060 - Code enforcement authority. "Code enforcement authority" means any department or function of the City assigned to the enforcement of the nuisance ordinances or zoning ordinances of the City. (Ord. No. 6326, § 2, 6-18-14)

Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.070 Commercial vehicle.

11.02.070 - Commercial vehicle. "Commercial vehicle" means a motor vehicle or combination of motor vehicle and trailer maintained or used primarily for the furtherance of a commercial enterprise. (Ord. No. 6326, § 2, 6-18-14)

Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.080 Construction zone.

11.02.080 - Construction zone. "Construction zone" means that portion of a public street which, because of the construction activities occurring thereon or in proximity thereto, has been designated by the City Traffic Engineer for a temporary reduction in the normal speed limit for a redirection of the normal flow of traffic, or both, in order to protect the public health, safety and welfare. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.082 Electric bicycle.

11.02.082 - Electric bicycle. "Electric bicycle" means a device upon which a person may ride, having two or three wheels, or every such device generally recognized as a bicycle that has fully operable pedals, a seat or saddle for the rider, an electric motor which produces not more than seven hundred fifty watts and meets the requirements of one of the following three classes: (1) Class 1 electric bicycle; (2) Class 2 electric bicycle; or (3) Class 3 electric bicycle. The term does not include a moped, a motorcycle, an all-terrain motorcycle, or an electric scooter. "Class 1 electric bicycle" means an electric bicycle equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling and ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of twenty miles per hour. "Class 2 electric bicycle" means an electric bicycle equipped with a motor that may be used exclusively to propel the bicycle and is not capable of providing assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of twenty miles per hour. "Class 3 electric bicycle" means an electric bicycle equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling and ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of twenty-eight miles per hour. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.083 Electric scooter.

11.02.083 - Electric scooter. "Electric scooter" means a device with handlebars and an electric motor that is designed to be ridden on in an upright or seated position and propelled by its electric motor or by propulsion provided by the rider. Such a device must not weigh more than one hundred pounds without a rider and must have a maximum speed of not more than twenty miles per hour when powered solely by its electric motor. The term does not include a scooter that is designed or intended by its manufacturer to be used primarily as an assistive device to increase, maintain, or improve the mobility of an individual with a disability or other physical condition that limits or impairs the individual's ability to walk. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.085 Immobilization device.

11.02.085 - Immobilization device. "Immobilization device," "immobilizing device" or "immobilizer" means a device that immobilizes a parked motor vehicle or otherwise renders it incapable of being driven away from a particular location. The term includes without limitation any device or mechanism that attaches to: (1) The tire, wheel or any other exterior part of a vehicle so as to make the vehicle inoperable; or (2) The front windshield of a vehicle so as to obstruct the driver's view through the windshield. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.090 Limousine or limo.

11.02.090 - Limousine or limo. "Limousine" or "limo" means a lengthened motor vehicle which is designed, maintained and used on a commercial basis to accommodate and transport up to ten persons, including the driver, and which is properly licensed to provide limousine service. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.100 Muffler.

11.02.100 - Muffler. "Muffler" means a device consisting of a series of chambers or baffle plates, or other mechanical design for the purpose of receiving exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine, and effective in reducing noise. (Ord. No. 6326, § 2, 6-18-14)

Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.110 Recreational vehicle.

11.02.110 - Recreational vehicle. "Recreational vehicle" means any vehicle or trailer designed, maintained and used as a travel trailer, camper, motor home, tent trailer, boat, boat trailer, snowmobile, snowmobile trailer, personal watercraft, personal watercraft trailer, camping trailer or other vehicle of a similar nature. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.120 RTC bus.

11.02.120 - RTC bus. "RTC bus" means a vehicle which is owned or operated by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada or another governmental entity, provides transportation for at least eleven persons, including the driver, and is marked so as to identify it as an RTC bus. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.130 Roundabout.

11.02.130 - Roundabout. "Roundabout" means an intersection characterized by a circulatory roadway, channelized approaches and yield control of entering traffic. A roundabout encompasses the area bounded by the outermost curb line or, if there is no curb, the edge of the pavement, and includes the crosswalks on any entering or exiting roadway. (Ord. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.140 Taxicab.

11.02.140 - Taxicab. "Taxicab" means a motor vehicle which is properly licensed under State and local law to provide taxicab service for a charge or fee. (Ord. No. 6326, § 2, 6-18-14)

Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.150 Tour bus.

11.02.150 - Tour bus. "Tour bus" or "shuttle bus" means a motor vehicle, other than a limousine, which is designed, maintained and used to transport more than six persons, including the driver, to or from hotels, motels, casinos, cultural or athletic events or other tourist attractions or points of interest. Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.160 Traffic Bureau.

11.02.160 - Traffic Bureau. "Traffic Bureau" means the Traffic Bureau of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. (Ord. No. 6326, § 2, 6-18-14)

Las Vegas Municipal Code § 11.02.170 Trailer.

11.02.170 - Trailer. "Trailer" means a vehicle, other than a commercial vehicle or recreational vehicle, that is without motor power, is designed and constructed to be drawn by a motor vehicle, and is designed and constructed and used for carrying persons, property, equipment or other items on its own structure, including, but not limited to semitrailers, utility trailers, flatbed trailers, and hauling trailers.
