Denver Revised Municipal Code § 48-16 Defined.

Sec. 48-16. - Defined. The term "household garbage", as used in this article, shall include waste from the preparation, cooking and consumption of food, condemned food products and all refuse and waste from the handling, storage, preparation and use of produce originating primarily in private, household kitchens and is limited to that garbage produced at all locations in the city which are individual household units, boarding houses, rooming houses and multiple dwellings occupied by fewer than eight (8) household units. Denver Revised Municipal Code § 48-17 Unlawful to sell.

Sec. 48-17. - Unlawful to sell. No person shall vend, or attempt to vend, or dispose of any fruit, vegetable or other article of food that may be decayed or partially rotten, or that may have been taken from any household garbage container located in any alley, street or other place. (Code 1950, § 728.2)

Denver Revised Municipal Code § 48-18 Collection and disposition.

Sec. 48-18. - Collection and disposition. In order to protect the health of the inhabitants of the city, household garbage is hereby condemned and appropriated, as the property of the city, and shall be collected, removed and disposed of by the city as the manager of transportation and infrastructure may, from time to time, direct. Denver Revised Municipal Code § 48-19 Containers.

Sec. 48-19. - Containers. Owners, tenants, residents and keepers of places where household garbage is produced or accumulates shall drain the garbage, wrap it in paper or place it in paper sacks, then deposit the same in a closed, watertight container of a type approved by the manager of transportation and infrastructure of not more than forty-gallon capacity. The container, provided at the expense of the owner, tenant or keeper, shall be placed in an area designated by the manager, accessible to vehicular traffic, where the container may be conveniently emptied and the garbage removed by the garbage collector. Denver Revised Municipal Code § 48-20 Rules and regulations.

Sec. 48-20. - Rules and regulations. The manager of transportation and infrastructure shall be empowered to prescribe such rules and regulations as the manager may deem proper not inconsistent with the Charter and ordinances, to govern the manner and time for the collection, removal and disposition of household garbage. It shall be unlawful for any person to violate a rule or regulation adopted by the manager pursuant to this section. (Code 1950, § 728.4; Ord. No. 516-15, § 21, 8-17-15; Ord.
