Former § 69-47-7 required producers to avoid pesticides or other contaminating residues on agricultural products sold or labeled organic. Former § 69-47-9 provided that only crops that had been free from use of prohibited pesticides for at least three years could be certified as organic and provided for a “transition to organic” certification during that three-year period.
