General Provisions The purpose of the Mixed-Use Districts is to allow for the development of a mix of residential, institutional and commercial uses within the same district. These districts are used to establish development centers throughout the city at the neighborhood, community and regional scale, as discussed in the Future Land Use of the Comprehensive Plan. Mixed-Use Districts implement the following goals and objectives of the Comprehensive Plan: 1. Quality physical growth and development: “Promote compact and contiguous development.” 2. Strong neighborhoods: “Establish a…framework of neighborhoods as villages with viable residential, institutional and commercial components that support the daily lives of residents.” 3. Reliable, cost-effective…infrastructure: “…a pedestrian environment, landscaped trees, sidewalks, off-street parking and transit.” 4. Quality physical growth and development: “Diversify downtown Jackson using a mixed-use neighborhood approach…” 5. Quality physical growth and development: “…modify land use and development implementation tools…to ensure consistency with the Comprehensive Plan.”
