San Diego Municipal Code § 28.01 Police Badge, Patch, and Insignia

§28.01 Police Badge, Patch, and Insignia That there is hereby established an official badge, patch, and cap insignia for the Police Department of The City of San Diego. Said official badge, patch, and cap insignia shall be of the size, design and materials as set forth in the specifications and drawings on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City under Document Numbers 254832 (badge and cap insignia) and O– 17264 (patch). (Amended 3–20–1989 by O–17264 N.S.)

San Diego Municipal Code § 28.02 Same — Officers’ Entitled to Wear

§28.02 Same — Officers’ Entitled to Wear That the following officers and employees of The City of San Diego shall be entitled to wear the official police badge, patch and cap insignia of The City of San Diego: (a) All active officers of the Police Department of The City of San Diego. (b) Any officer or employee of The City of San Diego whose duties are of such a nature as to require the exercise of the powers of a peace officer when such officer or employee is specially authorized in writing so to do by the Chief of Police Department of The City of San Diego, and such authorization is approved by the City Manager. (Amended 3–20–1989 by O–17264 N.S.)

San Diego Municipal Code § 28.03 Same — Retired Officers

§28.03 Same — Retired Officers All retired officers of the Police Department of The City of San Diego shall be entitled to possess and own the official police badge and police cap insignia of The City of San Diego; provided, however, that the same shall not be worn nor displayed publicly by any such retired officer unless special written permission so to do shall have been obtained from the Chief of the Police Department and approved by the City Manager. Said special permission shall be confined and limited to such particular occasion or occasions as are set forth in said permit. San Diego Municipal Code § 28.04 Same — Unauthorized Use Prohibited

§28.04 Same — Unauthorized Use Prohibited It shall be unlawful, except as otherwise herein provided, for any person to own or wear an official police badge and cap insignia of The City of San Diego; and any person violating any of the terms, requirements, regulations or provisions of this Section shall be guilty of misdemeanor. (Incorp. 1–22–1952 by O–5046 N.S., contained in O–12743 O.S. adopted 3–3–1930.)

§28.05 Uniform Allowance — Policemen (Repealed 6–28–1960 by O–8318 N.S.) (All members of the uniformed service in the Police Department employed on or before the effective date of O–8318 N.S. shall receive the appropriate uniform allowance.)
