SEC. 1111.4. SCHEDULING AND NOTICE OF HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION HEARINGS. (a) If a public hearing before the HPC is required under this Section 1111, the Department shall set a time and place for the hearing within a reasonable period. Notice of the hearing shall be provided as required in Section 333 of this Code. Division (a) amended; divisions (a)(1)-(b)(2) deleted; Ord. 179-18, Oper. 1/1/2019. SEC. 1111.5. DECISION BY THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION. (a) The HPC may approve, disapprove, or approve with conditions an application for a Permit to Alter or a Permit to Demolish and, where applicable for new or replacement construction, for a determination that the building is a Compatible Rehabilitation under Section 1113 or a Compatible Replacement Building under Section 1109(c), and shall make findings in support of its decision. (b) For applications for a Permit to Demolish, the applicant has the burden of establishing that the criteria governing the approval of applications set forth in Section 1111.7 have been met. (c) The decisions of the HPC shall be final except upon modification by the Planning Commission as provided in Section 1114 or upon the filing of a timely appeal to the Board of Appeals or Board of Supervisors as provided in Section 1115. SEC. 1111.6. STANDARDS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS FOR ALTERATIONS. The HPC, the Board of Appeals, the Board of Supervisors, the Planning Commission, and the Department shall be governed by the following standards in the review of applications for Permits to Alter. In the case of conflict with other requirements, including the requirements of Article 10, the more restrictive standards shall apply. (a) The proposed alteration shall be consistent with and appropriate for the effectuation of the purposes of this Article 11. (b) The proposed work shall comply with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties for significant and contributory buildings, as well as any applicable guidelines, local interpretations, bulletins, or other policies.
